Prism Glassworks, in the heart of beautiful downtown Troy, NY, is an independent glassblowing studio and gallery opened in 2001 by owner and head glassblower Phil Sundling. Our goal is to promote the creative growth of the American glass industry and provide an all-inclusive environment for glassblowers to express their art form.
We moved to our current location in the Little Italy neighborhood of Troy, an area with a tight knit blend of families, students and businesses, in 2011. We take pride in serving and connecting with our community. We offer an educational and professional setting for artists to come together, learn, and share ideas. Our facilities are equipped with many amenities not available at smaller studios (including an industrial lathe, multiple kilns, sandblasting booth, etc.), and offer benches for visiting artists to rent daily, weekly, or monthly.
Our gallery is by appointment only but you can usually stroll in to watch us while we work and check out our glass gallery. We have a large selection of boutique pieces (such as glass art décor, glass balls, glass jewelry, belt buckles, wine stoppers, wine glasses) in addition to our functional glass art (such as dry pipes, water pipes, rigs, and related accessories).
On the last Friday of each month, we host our Prism Glassworks Studio Night with a different featured artist each month. Our Studio Night brings together artists of different skill levels to collaborate on new glass pieces in the same space. You'll often find artists sharing benches and working on more than one piece at a time. All are welcome! Gallery entry is free (with free drinks and a viewing gallery to watch the event). Studio entry is $5 and allows for closer views of the artists while they work in a very welcoming atmosphere. For glassblowers, studio entry includes torch time and all of our amenities. We also raffle a glass piece from the gallery during the event, and it's always something fantastic! You don't want to miss it!
